While some might think it's strange for a male cat to be named after a female, it seems to follow with the moon theme of the cats. Each of them was named for a moon goddess or someone relating to the moon. The Artemis of Greek myths was often depicted with the crescent of the moon above her forehead and was sometimes identified with Selene.
