Look a Little Deeper
If you just look at the surface of a character you oftentimes miss some of the most important aspects they have to offer. If you look deeper you'll find the true person.

Helios first appears to Chibi Usa as Pegasus, a mystical creature asking her to keep his presence a secret. From this point on, as Chibi Usa shows to him her friendship we watch him open up little by little. During this time, he speaks to her through the Stallion Reve and not only do we find that he is a powerful being, but also a very wise one. When he reveals himself and his world to Chibi Usa, it is shown that he is truly dedicated to what he loves and he believes in beautiful dreams. Sworn to protect the Golden Crystal, Helios is shown to be a very strong individual. Even when his body was captured, he managed to keep the crystal away from the enemy. Nehellenia wanted Helios, as well as the Golden Crystal, but he refused. He does not wish for people to lose hope and prays for the dreams of beautiful dreamers. He loves dreams and the people who dream them. His wish to be able to protect those dreams.

The Ups and Downs
Every person has their good points and their bad points. That goes for animated characters as well so I have make a little list to go over some of these points.

Character Pros: He lives in a world of dreams. He is a devoted guardian.

Character Cons: His body was captured for most of the anime resulting in not being able to see his human form for most of the series. He leaves in the end of anime without a definite about his and Chibi Usa's relationship.
