She is the first order imperial Princess Kakyuu of the Tankei Kingdom of Kinmoku-sei (Planet Kinmoku). Her planet, like so many others, was attacked by Sailor Galaxia. In this battle, her lover was killed by the golden soldier. She fled to Earth to find Sailor Moon and was protected by Chibichibi who kept her safe in an inscence ern until she could recover. After some time, she finally appeared to her three Sailor Starlights and to Sailor Moon. She begged Sailor Moon to save galaxy from Sailor Galaxia's destructive path. After the Earth's Sailor Soldiers had been killed, Sailor Moon, Kakyuu Princess, Chibichibi, and the three Sailor Starlights doned wings and traveled through the galaxy. They went to confront Galaxia in her empire, the Shadow Galactica. After more battles and the loss of her Starlights, Kakyuu transformed into Sailor Kakyuu. She fought against the enemies beside Eternal Sailor Moon and it was in the Star Garden in front of Galaxia's Palace that she was killed by Sailor Chi.

The name of Kakyuu's home planet, Kinmoku-sei is written as and litterally means Planet Kinmoku. However, the word can also be written as "kinmokusei" like this and is the name of a kind of fragrant flower, the Orange Osmanthus. The Tankei Kingdom is also a pun. The kanji represent the word "tankei" which is another Japanese word for orange osmanthus. The common Japanese word that refers to that variety osmanthus is "kinmokusei."

Orange Osmanthus (Osmanthus fragrans var. aurantiacus) is a Chinese garden shrub/bush which does well in temperate climates, but is not very tolerant to frost. It has a strong sweet apricot scent that can be smelled from a distance (10 meters away).
