Mamoru is high school student attended Moto Azabu High School and as destiny would have it, met up with Tsukino, Usagi. On their first meeting he teased her and gave her the nickname "odango atama", which translates to "odango head". (An odango is a Japanese dumpling-like food that resembles the look of Usagi's hair buns.) He soon discovers Usagi's identity as Sailor Moon and continues to help her fight, though his self-appointed mission is to find the Phantom Silver Crystal causes rifts in the relationship. In a fight with Zoisite, Sailor Moon was knocked unconscious and Tuxedo Mask came to her rescue. When the girl awoke, she found herself at Mamoru's apartment and a tuxedo and mask lying not far away. It was here that Usagi learned of his identity as her mysterious, masked saviour.

Usagi and Mamoru's feelings grew ever more from this point, but it wasn't until Mamoru fell in battle that they two discovered that they were both reborn from a time long ago... a time when he was Prince Endymion and she was Princess Serenity. After this he is kidnapped and brainwashed by the Dark Kingdom. When he returned to Juuban he appeared as Endo, a shadow of what Mamoru was and approached Usagi in hopes to find the Phantom Silver Crystal she now possessed. It wasn't until the battle against Queen Beryl and Queen Metaria that Mamoru was freed from their grasp and the lovers were united once again. After this time, Usagi and Mamoru's love grew more and more as they fought against the continual villains that appeared.

This is how we first meet Mamoru. He is in the junior class of Moto Azabu High School and eventually the boyfriend of Tsukino, Usagi.

This is Mamoru's past self. He was discovered to be the prince of the Earth's Golden Kingdom before he died and was reborn as Chiba, Mamoru.

He is the king of Crystal Tokyo of the 30th Century and married to Neo Queen Serenity. It is revealed that when Usagi was 22 years old she ascended to the throne and gave birth to the first princess [Small Lady]. When she ascended to the throne in the 21st century, the people of Crystal Tokyo entered the age of long life, Endymion included. He lives in the Crystal Palace
