Name: Coronis comes from Greek mythology and means "crow or raven." She was a mortal woman and mother of Asclepius by the god Apollo. While pregnant, she cheated on Apollo and Raven informed him of her infidelity (some versions of the story claim it was Artemis, Apollo's twin sister, who killed her). Before her body was consumed on a funeral pyre, Apollo saved the life of his son from her corpse. It is said that since then ravens have black feathers, but before that time they were white. Coronis is also the name of the daughter of Coronaeus, King of Phocis. She was changed into a crow by the goddess Athena to enable her to escape from Neptune.

Name: Despite rumor, the word "mau" is not the Egyptian word for "cat," but rather it is a type of cat, a breed known as the Egyptian Mau. Name: A mermaid can be found in many mythology tales... no pun intended. It is a creature who has the appearance of a woman from her head to hips, but beyond that point she has a fish tail instead of legs. Mermaids and Seirens are considered to be similar. They are both creatures with feminine wiles and call to men at sea with their beautiful and eerie singing with the intention of drowning them.
