Sailor Moon/Dragon Ball GT: The Return Chapter Two: Transformations “Raistlin lifted his head, paused in his writing...The Forest…surrounded the tower…he looked upon the withering leaves, leafless branches, rotted and decayed stumps…” --Excerpt from Soulforge by Margaret Weis, Dragonlance Saga Sailor Doom focused all of his energy between his hands, both hands parallel to one another. The black energy crackled and flared as it gained in power. He knew where to find his warrior. Now, to get that warrior and turn him to his side. Not so difficult a task, as he had traveled to multiple planes of existence and had heard all about this warrior. Sailor Doom hurled the black energy into the wall of the hyperspace tunnel, blasting it apart and creating a temporal vortex leading straight into the Netherworld, the surge of air sucking the dead spirit of the warrior into the hyperspace tunnel. Sailor Doom used another blast of energy to seal the vortex in the tunnel, and the rush of air stopped. He gazed now, staring at the white-and-purple warrior with admiration. Sailor Doom touched the warrior’s white chest, energy transferring from his body into the dead spirit. The warrior’s red eyes flickered open. “Welcome, Warrior-Emperor Frieza,” Sailor Doom spoke with eloquence. “I am Sailor Doom. Your savior and master.” Frieza’s red eyes flared. “Be forewarned: strike me and I will kill you.” “What are you?” Frieza asked acidly. He did not like the prospect of his life being in the hands of this stranger. He knew this man was stronger than he was. “That is none of your concern. I hold your very existence in my hands. You will fight for me or die. Those are our terms of agreement. Do you accept?” Frieza’s red eyes flared once again, though this time, the flare was icy cold. “Do I have a choice?” “Of course not.” “Then I accept.” Hotaru poured over her math homework, trying to ignore the throbbing pain in her head. The fight against Sailor Doom had left a few dents in pride more than in body, however. She was one of the most powerful fighters in the galaxy, though not necessarily the physically strongest, and yet Sailor Doom threw around her and the other Sailor Soldiers like toys. It was sheer luck that enabled Lord Kai to get the Silver Crystal and the Holy Grail together, luck that forced Serena’s power over the edge, transforming her into Super Sailor Moon. Hotaru groaned as the rushing pain continued, unabated. Greg, sitting at his desk at home, in his comfortable room, had the distinct feeling of uneasiness and dread. He felt a cold hand, evil and chilling to the touch, grab at his shoulder. He turned around sharply, knocking his homework onto the floor in the process. Nothing was there. No hand. No icy fingers. Nothing. “I must be losing my mind or something,” he whispered silently. Lately, he had been receiving a distressingly large number of visions. He had gotten a bit sullen and somewhat distrustful of people ever since his ability to see visions started going nuts. He couldn’t block out the visions, nor could he ignore the dread feeling he has been getting. When Amy and her friends noticed his change in character, he merely shrugged it off as not getting enough sleep. He didn’t want to worry them; they had been through enough as it is, with Sailor Doom’s defeat and all. All he saw in his visions were two men, one was short, had a white body, purple shoulders, and a tail. The other, a tall and muscular man in his late forties, with a very strange haircut. Greg did not know who the visions were revealing, but he knew that they would play an important role in the coming days. “Now then, Frieza,” Sailor Doom said with a suave, articulate voice. “I have a few matters of utter importance to discuss with you.” “Spill it.” Frieza was in no mood for idle chitchat. A few decades ago, he would have been the one with the suave, articulate speech, he would have been the master. But now, over twenty years after his defeat at the hands of Super Saiya-jinn Goku, he was nothing more than a slave to Sailor Doom. “I see,” Sailor Doom mused. “Straight to the point. Well, to be frank, I need your, um, expertise, in a highly dangerous, though crucial, enterprise that I am about to undertake. I need your knowledge of multiple transformations, power level increases, and battle tactics. Your extensive expertise of planetary destruction and conquest would be most valuable to me as well.” “And what enterprise are you undertaking?” Frieza asked. “I wish to become a god.” “Funny, I undertook a similar endeavor only a few years ago and it got me killed.” “Ah, but you underestimate my resources.” “How so?” Sailor Doom led Frieza deeper into the hyperspace tunnels, leading right to Mistress Nine. “This is my trump card. Mistress Nine, the ultimate weapon.” Frieza looked hard at Mistress Nine. She was man-sized, taller than him, wore a purple gown, had purple hair and eyes, and had a peculiar star on her forehead. “This is a weapon?” he asked, incredulous. “No,” Sailor Doom began, “this is the weapon.” “What can she do?” “Well, when at full power, Mistress Nine can destroy an entire galaxy with a thought. You, I have heard, could only destroy one planet at a time.” Sailor Doom frowned. “Unfortunately, she was too powerful when I created her some centuries back. Her rapid energy fluctuations were highly unstable, and resulted in a power overload that propelled her into hyperspace where she was sealed off completely and put into a stasis sleep. I had originally created her to get an ancient relic, called the Holy Grail, as the Grail was heavily defended and guarded by a skilled warrior.” “What can this Grail do?” Frieza asked. “Well, if I had it, it would have made me a god. Unfortunately, the Grail is now one with a rather annoying child who has become one of the most powerful fighters in the Universe.” “Interesting. I, too, have searched for immortality and god-hood through the use of powerful artifacts. Where I come from, there are seven golden spheres called Dragon Balls. I am not certain as to how many sets of Dragon Balls there are, but the set I was looking for was on the planet Namek, which I had destroyed. The Dragon Balls of Namek granted three wishes. I wanted to wish for immortality. Unfortunately, the Legendary Super Saiya-jinn, the true warrior, had killed me and ruined my plans for eternal life.” “Interesting. We have much in common, Frieza.” “Apparently.” Goku followed his instincts, staying above the clouds so he could not be seen from below, flying toward the massive powerlevel he had detected. He flew right above a building that said “Crown Arcade”. Night had fallen, so the Arcade was closed. But he could feel the power radiating from inside the Arcade. Goku landed in front of the building’s door, and, seeing it was locked started to concentrate, trying to lock onto the energy of anything in the building. He locked onto the energy of a Sailor V video game, and, in a flash, teleported into the building right next to the game. “Instantaneous Movement,” he mumbled, thankful that he had spent so much time training to the point that he had achieved the skill to teleport to anywhere in the Universe just by locking onto an energy signature. “Now, what is giving off all that energy I sensed?” Goku looked around, and saw what was the source of the power he felt. It was a blue-white portal of some sort, rippling with energy. “This isn’t any bad guy,” Goku said, “it’s a gateway. Wonder where it goes to?” Luna woke to a soft beeping sound. The cat looked around and saw the sleeping form of Serena in her bed. The beeping sound came from Serena’s chest, where her Transformation Locket was resting against her chest, suspended by a chain around her neck. Luna nudged the sleeping girl and got a simple mumble and a groan in response. The cat nudged her again. This time, Serena opened one sleepy eye to look in Luna’s direction. “Luna…?” Serena said, her voice thick with sleep. “Do you have any idea what time it is?” “It’s two in the morning,” the cat replied. “Well, then let me sleep!” Serena pulled the covers around her, wrapping her head with them. Luna nudged her again. “Leave me alone!” Serena said, her voice muffled by the covers. “Serena!” the cat hissed into her ear. “Look at your Locket! It’s glowing! Something’s up!” Serena threw off the covers, sat up straight in her bed, and looked down to see that her Locket was, indeed, glowing. And the glow was getting increasingly brighter. “Hey! What’s going on?” said a soft voice. Luna and Serena turned to see Rini at the door, holding a glass of water and rubbing her eyes of sleep. “What’s that weird glow?” “I don’t know, Rini,” Serena answered, staring at her Locket. It was starting to get warmer. “Hey! This thing is heating up! Ouch! That thing’s burning me!” Indeed, the Locket was beginning to get increasingly hotter. Wisps of smoke trailed off from the front of Serena’s pajamas, the Locket burning into the fabric. Serena started to panic as the Locket singed her flesh. Luna reacted quickly. “Rini!” she said in a commanding voice. “Splash the water on her!” Rini, in panic and a bit of anxiety, rushed to Serena and dumped the water from her glass onto the older girl’s Locket. The glow from the Locket extinguished, as did the burning sensation. Serena slumped back in her bed with a sigh of relief. “Your lucky I went downstairs to get a cup of water,” Rini commented lightly. Her mirth vanished instantly when she took a closer look at Serena’s pajamas. The Locket had seared it through, a hole in the front of her shirt. The edges of the hole were charred black. “Why did it do that, Luna?” Serena asked the cat. “I do not know,” Luna replied. “I suggest a Scout meeting on the double!” “At two in the morning?” Rini asked. “Tomorrow’s Saturday. Luna,” Serena said. “Can we just hold the meeting tomorrow morning?” “Alright, I guess we can set up a scout meeting tomorrow.” “Good,” Serena said. “Now, goodnight!” Serena wrapped the covers around her once again, and quickly fell asleep, leaving an astonished Rini and Luna staring at her sleeping form. “She got burned by her own Locket, and she goes to sleep that quickly!” Rini gasped. “That Serena…” Luna said, exasperated. Goku looked into the gateway, even passing his hand through it then pulling it back out quickly. Then he felt another powerlevel. This time, the powerlevel was coming from beyond the gateway. And the powerlevel felt familiar. Very familiar. Goku stared into the gateway, but saw only a swirling mist of colors. That powerlevel felt so familiar! Where had he sensed it before? It was several years ago, he knew, but he couldn’t place the powerlevel he felt. Goku expanded his senses, searching as far as he could. Then he noticed something else. There was another powerlevel! But this one managed to hide itself from his first powerlevel search. Now, as he sensed deeper, he could feel this second power’s full strength. It was stronger than the first powerlevel reading he found! He continued to probe into this gateway, and then realized that the familiar power he felt earlier was the powerlevel of an old enemy. “Frieza…!” Goku stood there, stunned and shocked, cold sweat running down his forehead. Frieza! Alive! And with a higher powerlevel than before! Goku estimated that Frieza’s power had jumped from about three million to over a billion! So, Goku thought, Frieza has been growing in power in the Netherworld for the past twenty-or-so years… But who is this other powerlevel I am sensing? It’s higher than Frieza’s! Goku looked back to see that the full moon was at its peak…The moon! The moon was back in the sky! But if Piccolo had destroyed it all those years ago…then this can’t be Earth! Goku looked behind him, and saw his long, brown, tail poking through the hole in his pants just for the purpose of giving his tail some room. “Dammit!” Goku swore. He could feel the transformation within him, the change from Saiya-jinn warrior to Were-Monkey. Were-Monkey, an Oozaru. He couldn’t stop his transformation. For over two decades he had never looked into the full moon. He had never transformed from its light. He had always transformed from either the Brute Ray Machine or a Saiya-jinn Power Ball attack. He had forgotten how much more influencing the moon’s light felt on his flesh, which was staring to sprout coarse, brown hair. He couldn’t stop it. He felt himself get bigger, taller, stronger. His ape-like arms and legs ripped through his clothes, tearing them apart into rags. Goku managed to control his power, however, to the point that he transformed into a Super Saiya-jinn instead of an Oozaru. Goku’s ape-like limbs started to thin out, becoming more human in appearance, though the brown hairs covered his legs, arms, and body, though it left his broad chest exposed and hairless. His black hair turned even blacker, longer, more coarse. His eyes became more feral, more animalistic. Twin fangs sprouted from beneath his upper lip. Super Saiya-jinn Level Four Goku let out a feral growl as the moonlight blasted his body. He couldn’t control himself. The power surging through his veins, the power granted to him by the true full moon was too much for him to handle. Goku, no longer under his own free will, intoxicated by full moonlight, powered up, white flames surrounding his half-man, half-ape body. Goku blasted off, flying out of the Arcade, flying high into the air, charging up a devastating barrage of energy. He flew to the abandoned warehouse section of the city, where he unleashed his fury. Frieza’s eyes jerked up as he felt a great tremor in the tunnels of hyperspace. “Did you feel that?” the white-bodied warrior asked. “Yes.” Sailor Doom felt more than just a tremor. He knew that only super-strong blasts of energy could make the sensitive tunnels of hyperspace tremble so. “Frieza! We must hurry! I am opening a gateway directly to the source of the tremors!” Sailor Doom raised a hand, and, in the wall of one of the tunnels, a hole appeared. “Go in! Now! We haven’t much time! Whatever is causing this tunnel to shake is obviously very powerful! Whatever is causing this must be strong enough to free Mistress Nine! As your master, I order you to go into that hole I made and capture the source of this power!” Frieza, knowing that this man was strong enough to kill him on the spot, nodded, and flew into the hole. Serena awoke with a start, the burning sensation once again returned to her chest. The Locket was heating up again! “L-L-Luna!” she gasped, the pain increasing. Luna, lying on the bed, came to wakefulness. “Serena! Your Locket!” she said. “I know! Get it off me!” the girl croaked, panicked. The cat leaped up, and, with a swipe of the claw, caught fast to the Locket and hurled it to the corner of the room, where it started to singe the carpet. “How long have I been asleep?” Serena asked. Rini woke up, rubbing her eyes. She looked at the glowing Locket in the corner and gave a yelp. “That thing burned you again?” the younger girl asked. “Yeah,” Serena answered. “You’ve been asleep for about twenty minutes, according to your clock,” Luna answered. “Why do these things always happen to me?” Serena groaned. “That’s it! I’m calling in an emergency Scout meeting right now!” the cat vowed, jumping out of the bed, walking to Serena’s desk where her communicator was resting. The cat flipped it on. “Scouts. This is Luna! We have a problem.” Five minutes later, Serena, Luna, Artemis, Rini, Amy, Raye, Lita, Mina, Hotaru, Haruka, Michiru, and Darien were all gathered at Raye’s temple in the courtyard of said temple. Darien got up suddenly, seeing a dark form on the cobblestone steps. Darien sat back down with a sigh of relief when Derrak Ark came sauntering up the steps to greet them all with a disarming smile. “What are you doing here?” Luna asked. “I intercepted your communications transmission, of course. I heard about your little ‘problem’ so I decided to have a look at how serious this problem is. I am here on Hunter business, of course. The remaining Shadow Hunters are quite interested in your problem.” “Why would they be interested in our problems?” Artemis asked. “Why,” Derrak began, “they merely want to ensure that their dear friends, the Sailor Soldiers and Company, are protected and in good health.” “Who is the leader of the Hunters now?” Luna probed. “And where are you guys based at? You never told us.” “Where we are based is none of your concern, Luna. That’s classified information. I can say, however, that we are not on Earth or anywhere in your solar system. As to who is the new leader, well, Miran kept his word, and has replaced Perrigon. Perrigon is now retired and is living on some paradise island. Anyway, since Miran is currently busy running his company here on Earth, he appointed me as his in-field replacement. I take orders from him, though, whenever something big turns up. Such as the Sailor Scouts having a problem. Whenever the Scouts have a problem, that is usually very bad for business.” “Well, you certainly bumped up our self-esteem,” Haruka replied caustically. The Shadow Hunter shrugged. “Anyway, back to the reason I called you all here,” Luna said, getting everyone’s attention. She began to tell them all what happened to Serena and her Locket…
