Sailor Moon/Dragon Ball GT: The Return Chapter Five: Conquered Villains “I have returned for the second time. Not to conquer, but as a conquered man.” --General Douglas McArthur, Return Quote to the Philippines “I hate doing this, but neither of us has a choice Frieza,” Goku said coldly, shaking Frieza’s hand. “I know I’m going to regret this,” Frieza returned. “That makes two of us.” “Hmm…” Frieza turned a curious eye down at the eight women and their companions, who were milling about below the flying warriors. “What’s wrong?” Goku asked. “Those kids down there,” Frieza said, “they are too young to have the power to harm me, and yet, they wounded me-right on the back.” “Kids are learning to fight earlier and earlier these days.” Goku shook his head. “What a shame. Such a violent world we live in.” “You wuss.” Frieza said acidly. “Let’s go pay these children a visit…” “You are NOT going to hurt them, Frieza,” Goku said harshly. “Understand?” “Fine. I’ll just shock ‘em to make sure they know their place around me.” “You will do nothing of the sort.” “Fine. Then let’s say hello.” Frieza hated being subservient to Goku, hated being conquered, but he needed the Saiya-jinn’s assistance…for the time being. “Hey! There’re flying down here!” Mars pointed at the two flying humanoid warriors. “I would be wary of the smaller fighter, Lady Mars,” Drizzt said, appearing out of thin air with Guenhwyvar by his side. He put his hand on Sailor Mercury’s shoulder. “Make sure that the one with the monkey tail doesn’t do anything to rash. I can sense his power. Its enormous.” Mercury looked at the dark elf. “I know,” she said. “My computer-” she showed him her minicomputer, “-can read their energy ratings.” Drizzt nodded. “Here they come.” Tuxedo Mask stepped up to stand beside Sailor Moon. Frieza’s three toes touched the ground softly, Goku’s booted feet picking up dust as he landed. “Children these days,” Goku remarked, “What strange clothing teenagers wear nowadays. Never saw anyone wear such strange garments when I was a kid…” “Ha!” Frieza looked at Goku. “Since when did you become an authority on fashion, Saiya-jinn?” “Who are you two?” Derrak asked, cocking back the hammer of his gun. “Put your silly toy away, brat,” Frieza snapped. “What ever gave you the idea that a bullet could possibly hurt me?” “It hurt you the last time I fired it,” Derrak replied. “Ha! That was your buddies’ energy attacks that hurt me, not your little pop-gun.” Derrak flushed both in embarrassment and anger. “Who are you?” Derrak asked again. “My name is Son Goku!” the large man with the tail said cheerfully. Goku jerked a thumb at Frieza. “He’s Frieza. We used to be enemies, but I learned that we have an even bigger problem right now. We don’t really have the time to fight with you kids.” “So you’re not here to take over the Earth?” Luna asked. “No,” Goku said. “I got teleported here by accident. A big dragon dropped me off here. Come to think of it, I wonder why he left me all alone down here?” “Did you say this was Earth?” Frieza asked sharply. “This place doesn’t look a thing like the Earth Raditz sent in his report! What the hell is going on?” “Earth? This is Earth?” Goku just realized the portent of what this means. He is home! Back on his home planet! He could go home to his family again! “Yeah…this is Earth…” Sailor Mercury looked at the two warriors strangely. “I wonder…” Frieza’s chin sank into his hands in thought. “Goku, in our fight on the planet Namek,” he looked at Goku, “I believe that you were communicating telepathically with some people in the netherworld.” “I was.” Goku smiled. “That was how I was able to beat you.” Frieza’s eyes flashed in anger. “That is not the point. The point is this: telepathy can transcend time and space. Try and communicate with your friends from the netherworld.” “I…will try.” Goku closed his eyes. Kaio, he thought, sending his thoughts across the universe. Kaio, can you hear me? Pluto’s eyes narrowed. On a tiny planetoid, on the end of Snake Way, in the farthest reaches of the netherworld, a blue-skinned man in black robes was drinking his tea, a small monkey and a cricket sitting next to him, enjoying the relaxing rest, watching the slow, lazy day go by. The blue-skinned man’s twin antennae quirked straight up and the man sat up straight. Kaio, can you hear me? Was that Goku’s voice? “Goku?” Kaio asked into the air, his voice travelling the universe. “Goku! You are alive! But how? The dragon, Shenron, took you away!” “Kaio!” Goku cried happily. “Kaio! You can hear me! Alright!” Everyone looked at him strangely, except Pluto, whose eyes narrowed ever more. “Goku!” Tears welled in Kaio’s eyes. Gregory, the cricket, looked at Kaio, while the monkey, Bubbles, started scratching himself. Goku was alive! “Goku, where are you?” Kaio asked. I am on Earth, or what I am told is Earth, came the telepathic reply. “Earth? You don’t know where you are?” No, I do not. Could you check for me? “I will. Give me a moment.” Kaio turned around, his antennae twitching, searching for the planet Earth, in his dimension, searching for Goku’s presence on the planet. “Goku, I am afraid that you are not on Earth.” What? “Goku, you are not on the Earth we know. You are in another dimension, on another version of Earth.” Frieza and I are on another Earth? Goku was clearly surprised. Stupid Dragon! He dropped him off on the wrong planet! I’ll bet he made a wrong turn on New York and took a right turn instead of a left! “You’re with Frieza?” Kaio was practically screaming his head off. He had NOT expected Frieza! Well, yes, apparently there is this guy named Sailor Doom who has enslaved him and ol’ Freezy wants him dead. We have a truce to get rid of Sailor Doom; he is almost a god. He has to be taken out. No one should have that kind of power. “I sense another power with you, Goku. A very strong power.” “Hey, Kaio, what do you mean?” Goku took on a far-off look, communicating with Kaio. Pluto interrupted. “Mr. Goku, I believe I know what Kaio is talking about. I, too, possess telepathy. I have been eavesdropping on your conversation. May I?” Pluto opened her mind, linking her telepathic mind with Kaio’s. Kaio, this is Sailor Pluto, Time Guardian. Oh, hello, Pluto. Nice to hear from you! It’s been awhile since you visited Bubbles, Gregory, and me on our little planet in what you consider Heaven. You should stop by and share some tea with us…Okay, Bubbles! Share tea and bananas with us. I would enjoy that, Ageless Kaio, but right now we have some pressing business to attend to. I overheard your conversation with Goku. I also heard about Sailor Doom in your conversation. He is an enemy of some of my companions. I have sensed his return. That is why I brought in some reinforcements, such as a dark elf from another dimension called Toril. Please open a telepathic link to my friends, the Sailor Scouts, and tell them what you know about Goku and Frieza. I will similarly use my telepathy to explain Sailor Doom’s involvement in our lives and the dark elf I have brought in to help. And so, in a matter of minutes, dark elf, Scouts, friends, and two new warriors learned of each other, of their exploits, and turned to a single, all-consuming goal: the destruction of Sailor Doom. “Frieza…the traitor.” Sailor Doom was very displeased…but not surprised. He never trusted Frieza, knew he would turn on him…just like Miran did. Just like he, so long ago, when he was known as Apyt, just he turned on the Forces of Good and embraced the Darkness that granted him power. “It is time to gather the energy necessary to bring forth Mistress Nine from her sleep. The warrior with the tail, the one Frieza is acquainted with, possesses great power. Power that I need to win. And I shall have it.” Sailor Doom floated to the sleeping warrior woman behind him. He gazed at his weapon of devastation longingly. “I will bring you back, Weapon Mistress Nine. I will use you as I intended so long ago. To get the Relic, the Holy Grail, and give it to me! To capture the Imperium Silver Crystal! To make me a God! “But first, I must eliminate all threats.” Sailor Doom opened a viewing portal, saw in it the hated Sailors, their companions, a dark elf and his panther, and the traitorous Frieza and his monkey-tailed friend. “The man with the tail is the key. I have read up on his kind. The Saiya-jinn. A warrior race. He must be the strongest of their practically extinct race. If I can drain him of his power…convert it to dark, negative energy…then I might be able to release Mistress Nine without using inverted negative fusion energy!” Sailor Doom stepped through the viewing portal, disappearing into it, using the portal as a gateway to the Sailors and their friends… Kaio, came Goku’s telepathic message. Kaio, if all this talk of Sailor Doom is true, I’m going to need… What, Goku? Kaio asked, listening. I will need the help of Vegeta and my sons. I will need the help of Piccolo, Trunks, and the others. I will need the Z Fighters. Goku! Kaio was taken aback at this. Transporting the entire Z Fighter contingent into another dimension! Sending that many beings across the planes of existence in a short time window! Unheard of! Goku! Sending all of the Fighters could tear a rift in the space-time continuum! Even now, all of this dimensional travel caused by you, Drizzt, and Frieza might have weakened the continuum to the point that it could collapse the next time even a particle of dust goes through! We don’t have a choice, Kaio-samma! Goku was getting desperate. He felt the powerlevels of Frieza and the Scouts. Their combined power was incredible. But, being a Saiya-jinn, a member of a warrior race, he knew-instinctively-that no matter how high their combined power was, it wasn’t enough. He had fought countless enemies, defeated countless foes, but he had always had a gut feeling when he knew that his friends weren’t strong enough. In his battle with Frieza twenty years ago, Goku had nearly died, as Frieza was a hundred times more powerful than he was. But, by a sheer twist of fate, a lot of luck, and what passed for a miracle, Goku became a Super Saiya-jinn and became powerful enough to defeat Frieza. He needed that miracle once again. Kaio-samma, I need the Z Fighters. Kaio thought this over on his little planet, his blue-skinned hands clasped behind his back, his black robes rustling. I will do all I can, Goku. “Hi, Mother!” Twenty-five years old Gohan landed beside his mother, who was fixing up the garden in front of the house. Videl, Gohan’s wife, was helping Gohan’s mother. “Hello, Gohan,” said Chi Chi, busily fixing the flowers, sparing a look at her son. “Where’s Pan?” Chi Chi was referring to Gohan’s daughter. “Oh, she’s in town.” “Did she take the car?” Videl spoke up. “She flew.” “Kids,” Chi Chi sighed. “Goku was like that at her age. Never wanted to learn how to drive. Always flew. At least I was able to make him take the test and make him get his license. I’m afraid the police won’t want him on the road anymore, though.” She was referring to a little incident a few years ago, where Goku and his former rival, Piccolo, were having a driving race across town, while trying to pass their driver’s tests. Needless to say, it was hilarious, though the cops really didn’t want to have to clean up all of the trashcans that got knocked over. “Well,” Gohan said cheerfully, the cool breeze blowing through his short black hair, “I got the firewood!” Gohan jumped into the line of trees nearby and jumped back out to land beside his mother, the huge trunk of an oak tree riding on his shoulders. “This should be enough!” Chi Chi chuckled. “Those were the same words your father said before he went to the reunion all those years ago. The reunion that Raditz interrupted.” She quieted as she said those words, recalling what she had been told about Raditz, the fight against him, Goku being killed and sent to go train at Kaio-samma’s planet in the afterlife. “Well, the past is behind us,” she mumbled to herself. “Actually, Chi Chi, the past has just come back,” said a strange voice. Gohan, Videl, and Chi Chi all looked up to see a tall man standing in the road in front of their house. The man seemed familiar…black hair…strange hair cut…broad shoulders… “FATHER!” Gohan cried in glee, tears streaming down his and his mother’s face. Gohan leaped at Goku, embraced him in a bear-like hug. “I’m back, son,” Goku said softly, “I’m back.”
