Sailor Moon: The Three Waves of Destruction Wave Two Chapter Four: Meetings Sailor Pluto looked into the gilt-framed mirror before her. She whispered a soft word and the mirror before her swirled from the inside with white clouds. The clouds formed into a picture, revealing the Dark Lords plotting their scheme to kill the Sailor Scouts. Despite her knowledge of what the Dark Lords are going to do, Pluto vowed to herself, as well as to the gods watching over Earth, that she would remain a small player in the game. No, she thought silently, not a game. A cruel, and manipulative form of entertainment for the gods, who sit back and laugh as they watch this intrigue unfold before their ageless eyes. Lord Kai, I beg you, return to our plane, return and help save the Sailor Scouts… The armored form sat cross-legged on the cold stone floor of Draggnarae Keep. The armored warrior heard the soft and caring thoughts of Sailor Pluto, Mistress of Time. Cold, yellow eyes lit up within the bowels of the cylindrical helmet that adorned the warrior’s head. A dirty, grimy scarf of tattered cloth was wrapped around the warrior’s neck, the scarf making him look more menacing. He was garbed, head to toe, in black steel armor. The steel plates interlocked to form a sturdy, well-proportioned suit of armor. At the warrior’s side hung a beautifully crafted broadsword, its blade hidden within its battered leather scabbard. The sword’s hilt was crafted of the finest ivory, and inlaid with gold and silver. A bright ruby was embedded within both ends of the sword’s crosspiece. The pommel of the sword was carved into the likeness of a dragon’s maw, a glimmering emerald within that toothed maw. “Pluto…” the warrior spoke, his voice sounding distant and weak, almost ghostly. “I hear you, O mighty Mistress of Time. I fear, however, that my curse will prevent me from assisting your beloved companions,” At the Gate of Time, Pluto continued to stare into the mirror, but she saw nothing through her teary eyes. The man she loved was suffering a fate worse than death…because of his love for her. She thought of him constantly, but tried in vain to push away the dark memories. Kai… her mind said to the lonely warrior of Daggnarae Keep, I need your help. Please, try and free yourself…just long enough to help them. The warrior heard the telepathic plea, and, upon hearing the voice of his one true love, a flicker of…something…sparked in the region where his heart should have been. “I will do what I can…Setsuna,” the armored warrior said softly, using Sailor Pluto’s real name. Thank you, Pluto telepathically responded. Her head drooped to her chest, tears running down her cheeks. Thraait looked at the setting sun with evil eyes. He hated sunlight, but cherished every moment when the sun goes down and night sets in. Dark elves, by nature, are sensitive to sunlight, or any form of bright light, for that matter. Thraait was standing on the rooftop of the Crown Arcade, waiting for the darkness. Orias was standing on the roof of a building opposite of the one Thraait was on. Kanatil was busy preparing the last segments of the assault plan. The assault plan that would be used against the Sailor Scouts. Another energy bomb here. A turbo strike there. And it was finished. Now all they needed was a bit of mayhem to have those Scouts come running toward them. “The Dark Lords are in position,” Miran said to his master. “Good. Initiate Phase One.” Miran spoke into the ball of energy floating in front of him, “Lady Kanatil. Phase One. Go.” Kanatil heard Miran’s voice in her head. She nodded to her two companions, who were gifted with keen eyesight and thus, could see her nod even in the growing darkness. Thraait acted first. Her let loose a heavy barrage of energy, the tiny bolts flashing wildly and crashing into the nearby buildings. Fires erupted from the energy attack. Orias went next. Her drew a slender wand from his belt, aimed the wand at the street below him, and said an arcane word. A blast of lightning ripped out of the wand, blasting into the pavement, chunks of concrete flying. The Dark Lords could hear the sounds of police sirens heading their way. Thraait smiled evilly, expecting quite a bit of entertainment in a few moments. Several squads of police vehicles arrived in a matter of seconds, the police quickly exiting their cars and standing behind the doors using them as a shield of sorts. Their guns were loaded and trained on the three mysterious figures. Thraait, in his mad glee, let loose a barrage of lightning bolts, the electricity jumping from his hands to the cars below. Several police officers were burned to death from the resulting explosions. “Sailor Scouts!” Thraait yelled, ranting like a mad man. “Show yourselves!” A news crewman and his associates were busy taping the action from the safety of an alley. A female reporter faced the cameraman and spoke into her microphone; “Total chaos has erupted here tonight…” The battered Scouts and their new acquaintances, Sailors Uranus and Neptune, had walked off the battlefield and made their way to the warehouse the Guardian had been using as a hideout. Being trained in first aid and on-the-battlegrounds-medical-treatment, the Guardian quickly and expertly examined and bandaged all the wounds each Scout had. The Guardian himself examined his own wounds, which weren’t serious, only a few minor scratches, and quickly applied an herbal ointment to the abrasions. “So, who are you?” Sailor Moon asked the two new Scouts. Luna answered her, “They are the remaining Outer Scouts, Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune.” “I see you remember us, Luna,” Sailor Uranus said casually, leaning against the wall. “Of course we remember you!” Artemis said to the tall Scout. “By the way, where have you two been? It’s been over one thousand years! I think a little reunion is in order!” “Well,” Neptune began, “Unlike the Inner Scouts-Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, and Venus-the Outer Scouts-Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, and Saturn-were never reincarnated. We were busy fighting Beryl herself. Sailor Saturn had been killed by Beryl before Serenity used her spell. As a result, Saturn’s weapon, the Silence Glaive, reincarnated her in an attempt to save its wielder. I see that it has succeeded. We didn’t have enough time to break away from the fight, and got sent to the Negaverse instead of being reincarnated by accident! Of course, Sailor Pluto, being the Guardian of Time and all, was immune to the effects of Queen Serenity’s magic, and was merely teleported back to the Gate of Time, by all accounts. As for Uranus and I, we eventually got out of the Negaverse millennia later, though to us it seemed only three days had passed. You see, time is accelerated in certain parts of the Negaverse. As soon as we left that dark place, Pluto came to us and told us what had happened to the Moon Kingdom, the current date, and ourselves. She also told us about the Guardian, Crystal Tokyo, and the future, though she didn’t reveal all of it. We knew we had to find the rest of the Scouts, to help them. Pluto said you were in trouble. So we came. And…here we are.” Silence fell upon the group, an uncomfortable silence. The Guardian was the first to break it off. “Hey,” he said gruffly, standing, “Look.” He pointed to a patch of shadow in the corner of the far wall of the warehouse. Two figures stepped into the light, revealing them. “Hello, Derrak,” Lord Perrigon said calmly to him. “I thought I told you that our employer wants that Sailor Moon kid dead.” Opal stood at Perrigon’s side, sword in hand. “Finish the job, Derrak,” Tuxedo Mask stepped protectively in front of Sailor Moon. Opal laughed in his face. “Do you think you can possibly defend her from me, cape-boy?” She took thee easy strides to stand an arm’s length away from Tuxedo Mask. Her sword flashed, and Tuxedo Mask went down, clutching at his wounded side. Sailor Moon wrapped her arms around him, one hand covering his wound, blood soaking her white glove and his shirt. “Stop it!” the Guardian yelled at the sword-wielding Opal. “That’s enough, Opal!” “Finish her off, Derrak. Make the execution clean and quick. We need that money, Derrak.” Perrigon said sharply. “Who’s this Derrak guy, Guardian?” Venus asked him. “That’s my real name, Venus. Derrak Ark. Codename Guardian.” He stated with the ease of practice. “Derrak Ark. Identification Number four five seven nine zero five three. Rank Captain. You will follow my orders, Number four five seven nine zero five three.” Perrigon said to the young man. “I don’t think so, Perrigon,” the Guardian said defiantly. Out came the finely crafted dirk, cutting the air with a sharp whistle, searing for Perrigon’s heart. The master Shadow Hunter merely batted the weapon aside, just as it came within ten inches of his heart. The dirk spun wildly in the air before it clattered noisily on the ground. “Nice try, Captain Ark.” Perrigon said to him. “Who are these people?” Sailor Moon cried, tears filling her eyes as Tuxedo Mask’s blood continued to pour onto the ground. “He’s Perrigon, Shadow Hunter Leader. He organized the whole group. His buddy is Opal, a Captain, like myself. A Class Two swordswoman; the best fighter in ten galaxies, except that I’m better.” Opal harrumphed as she heard him say the boast. Her sword flashed again, this time her attack was aimed at Derrak. The young man deftly dodged the attack, stepped up against Opal, grabbed her sword arm, twisted her wrist to force her hand to open up, and heard her sword clatter from her numbed hand. He kicked her sword so that it skidded to the other end of the warehouse. Then Derrak kicked out, sweeping Opal’s feet from under her, causing her to fall on her rump. Opal twisted on her rump, swerving out of Derrak’s downward punch. She barely made it out before the young warrior’s fist blew a hole in the ground. She stood back up, amazed at how skilled her rival had become so powerful in just a few days. “Stop it, both of you.” Perrigon ordered. Opal stood down, hands at her sides. Derrak followed suit. “That’s better.” Perrigon said. “So, you came all this way to make sure I followed orders, is that it?” Derrak sneered. “Correct.” Opal replied dryly. “Who hired me. Answer me that, at least.” “I guess you should know. If it’s the only thing that will get you to finish the job.” Perrigon said, giving in, “Miran told us to have Sailor Moon taken out. There? You happy?” “Miran told us to have Sailor Moon taken out. There? You happy?” Miran and his master both stared at the floating energy ball that was relaying the entire confrontation to them. Miran stared in abject terror, realizing that his schemes had just been unraveled. He looked up at his master, terror in his eyes. His master locked gazes with him, holding him in place. “So,” the master rumbled, “you have been plotting against me all this time. Why?” “I wanted her dead because I know how crucial she is to your plans. After you made me send the Shadow Hunters to their deaths, I knew I couldn’t learn anything from you except how to be a murderer. But I also knew that I couldn’t leave. As long as you breathed, some other apprentice would take my place and become your pawn. I will not become a pawn in your sick games!” With that, Miran focused all his power in a teleportation spell that would get him out of that dark castle. “Goodbye, Sailor Doom,” Miran said to his former master, as he faded away into nothingness. Sailor Moon Wave Two Chapter Five: The Legend of the Super Sailor “So, the same guy who sent all of the Shadow Hunters to their deaths hired me to kill Sailor Moon,” Derrak said, venom creeping into his voice. “How could you let that son-of-a-bitch became our employer!” Perrigon was taken aback at the tone in the young man’s voice. He knew he should explain. But, how could he? Derrak thought so highly of him; how could he reveal his weakness to the young man? As it turned out, he didn’t have to explain a thing. A flash of light burst forth from the corner of the warehouse. Miran stepped out, cape wrapping about his legs as he walked in front of Perrigon, facing the Scouts and Derrak squarely. “Miran,” Perrigon said harshly, a bit perturbed at being taken by surprise so easily by the dark man's appearance. “My name is Miran,” the dark man said to the Scout’s questioning look. “As you have heard, I did indeed send Derrak to kill you, Serena Tsukino,” Sailor Moon was a bit surprised that he knew her name, but regained her composure, realizing that Tuxedo Mask was still bleeding. “I also sent his little band, the Shadow Hunters, on a suicide mission a millennia ago.” After taking a few minutes to explain the deaths of the Shadow Hunters, Miran told them why Perrigon let him employ Derrak. “Perrigon could not resist the offer I gave him: his one weakness was his need to retire from the killing, but he could not do so, he simply could not abandon his precious Shadow Hunters. No one possessed his skill and experience in leadership. I offered to take over as his replacement, for I have lived far longer than he has. I was more than qualified to become his successor. So, in return for my service to him, he would send Derrak to kill Sailor Moon.” “That still doesn’t explain why you want Serena dead,” Tuxedo Mask groaned, clutching his wound. “My, my,” Miran remarked, “Opal, you really are quite the fighter. A deftly made cut, to be sure, though a bit messy. Here,” he said, kneeling in front of Tuxedo Mask, “Drink this.” He offered him a blue vial that he produced from his pocket. Tuxedo Mask looked at it suspiciously, then took it, opened it, and quaffed its contents. Instantly, Tuxedo Mask’s wound started to seal up. In a matter of seconds, the only trace of his wound was the bloodstains on his shirt. “There.” Miran said. “Now, about why I had Derrak try to kill you,” he looked at Sailor Moon, “It’s a complicated story, but I’ll tell you what I can,” Long ago, long before the Silver Millennium, long before life began, a being, known only as the Traveler, wandered the dark and vast planes of the Universe. He witnessed many small planets coming into full bloom, they were nothing but chunks of rock when he first saw them, but he could tell that they would soon spring forth with what he called Tadk’zar’kith. It is his word for Life. He continued to walk the Universe, living on forever, looking upon newborn worlds. The Traveler soon became engrossed with the prospect of creating Life of his own. So, after many aeons of struggle, the Traveler created the first of a proud and powerful race: the first Nal’tadk’zar’kith, the first Sailor Soldier. He called it the ‘One and True’ for it was his first and ultimate creation. Once he had his Nal’tadk’zar’kith, the Traveler continued to create more. After many more aeons had passed, there were five Sailor Soldiers: the Soldier of Loyalty, the Soldier of Faith, the Soldier of Hope, the Soldier of Love, and the first Soldier, the original Soldier, the Soldier of Life. They were based on emotions. Their powers grew over the millennia, and they spawned many more Sailor Soldiers from their particular emotion. From Loyalty came Fire for flames of loyalty can never be extinguished. From Faith came Lightning for true faith can strike down foes like lightning. From Hope came Water for hope flows like a river though a single person and into an ocean of people. From Love came Earth for true love is as hard as the earth. And finally, from Life came Wind, for life will blow the leaves of loyalty, faith, hope, and love forever. These children of the First Soldiers, as they came to be called, spawned any more Soldiers. And, once life formed on the desolate planets, those children went to those chunks of rock and sent their energies into the land, giving it strength and power. Many aeons passed and complex organisms, such as animals and humanoids, formed. As a result of the Soldiers’ offspring giving their energies into the planets, each planet had one humanoid that became a Sailor Soldier. These Sailor Soldiers became the heroes and heroines of their respective planets, becoming justice-keepers for all in their realm. They fought against the oppressors of the common folk, and their legends spanned the Universe. There was a legend, created long ago, by some old priest who worshiped the Sailor Soldiers as gods. He claimed that one of the Sailor Soldiers would become the ultimate creature of goodness. He claimed that there would be a Super Sailor, a Sailor Soldier of vast power and goodness. A being so powerful, the gods would bow before it. The old priest had claimed that Traveler himself spoke to him, though, according to ancient lore, the Traveler had disappeared after the First Soldiers began to spawn new Soldiers. Then, she came. She was the most powerful being in the Universe. Her name was Sailor Serenity. “Serenity?” everyone, the Scouts, the Shadow Hunters, the cats, and Tuxedo Mask cried out in surprise. “As in Queen Serenity? Of the Moon Kingdom?” Luna clarified. “Yes,” Miran said somberly. “Your Queen was the tenth descendant of Queen Serenity the First. This Queen was the one who created the Moon Kingdom. Serenity the First, the great Sailor Serenity, created the Moon Kingdom to save her people…” Sailor Serenity was the heroine of her planet, the small little world Serenity. Some people had thought that she would be the legendary Super Sailor. Some believed that she was merely another Sailor Soldier, but none could refute her power. Throughout her life, Sailor Serenity never became the Super Sailor of the legends. A dark dragon, a monster of pure evil, came to the planet Serenity to take it over. Sailor Serenity fought the dark dragon and won, but her planet was in shambles and would soon explode. Fearing for her beloved people, Sailor Serenity focused all of her energy and formed the Imperium Silver Crystal, a crystalline globe of pure energy. The Crystal allowed her to encase all the souls of her people into it, allowing them to leave their dying planet. Sailor Serenity also sent her soul into the Crystal, and mentally transported the Crystal away, just as the planet Serenity, and all of the dead, soulless bodies of its inhabitants, exploded. The Crystal came to the moon of the planet Earth several decades later, releasing all of the souls and all of its pent up energy onto the moon’s surface. The energy created a kingdom and fertile lands on the surface of the moon, while the souls were finally freed from the Crystal and became living, breathing beings once again. Sailor Serenity had created life. She had given birth to the Silver Millennium. Sailor Serenity, however, had used up all of her energy in creating the Crystal and saving the souls of her people, and gave up her portfolio as a Sailor Soldier, her powers leaving her body and empowering the Imperium Silver Crystal to new heights. In doing so, however, she and the Crystal became tied together. If she died, the Crystal would absorb her essence and become even more powerful, but, as she lived, it continually drained her of her energy. Her descendants also suffered from this affliction; while they lived, they would lose energy to the Crystal, but when they died, they would join with the Crystal, making it more powerful for future generations to use. Princess Serena, the eleventh descendant of Serenity the First, was the only one of Sailor Serenity’s bloodline to not become affected by the Crystal’s curse. This occurred because Princess Serena died before she inherited the Crystal. Having gained the Crystal one thousand years later, her soul had somehow generated a resistance to the Crystal’s curse, allowing her to use its powers without consequence. “And that brings me to why I wanted you dead.” Miran stated. He looked at each person in the warehouse, locking each of them in his gaze. “Sailor Moon, with the help of her Imperium Silver Crystal, has a very high chance of becoming the first Super Sailor. My former master wants to use you and your Crystal to achieve his own goal, a very dark goal.” Sailor Moon clutched her brooch, which contained the Crystal. “My former master wants to do two things: One, drain you of your power to augment his own. And two, he wants to destroy the Imperium Silver Crystal and release all of the energy and souls inside it. He will then take all of that energy and souls to become a god-figure.” “Who is your master?” Sailor Neptune asked. “My master is the second most powerful being in the Universe, next to Sailor Serenity. He is known as Sailor Doom.” “A Sailor Soldier?” Artemis scoffed at the notion. “Yes, a Sailor Soldier.” Miran’s voice became a whisper; “He was once a knight of good, but then became a tool of evil. He became jealous of Sailor Serenity’s power, and soon stepped off of the pedestal of light and fell into the darkness. He used the evil to become even more powerful, but nowhere near Sailor Serenity’s power. I became his apprentice to learn magic from him. I learned quite a bit. A bit too much. He forced me to send all of the Shadow Hunters to their deaths. That was my first clue that Sailor Doom wasn’t such a great being. The centuries crawled on, and I noticed more and more, how evil he was. I finally found out about his goals. If he became a god, we would all be doomed. So, I took the initiative: I ordered Sailor Moon to be killed.” Miran’s head drooped. “I-I-I thought I was doing the right thing, ordering Sailor Moon’s death. I had to stop Sailor Doom from winning. I had to keep him from becoming a god.” After Miran’s stirring speech, everyone left the warehouse, heading back to his or her own homes. The Perrigon and Opal apologized for their brash behavior and stayed in the warehouse with Derrak, Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Uranus. The Scouts all went to their own homes, Darien heading back to his apartment. Sailor Pluto left the Gate of Time, a rare occasion indeed, and went to Daggnarae Keep, to see her old friend, Lord Kai. She stepped into the dimly lit room, the dust that blanketed the room rising up, disturbed, by her entrance into the chamber. In the center of the dust-covered room sat her friend, Lord Kai. “Hello, old friend,” she said uneasily, clutching her Time Staff tightly. “So,” Kai said, voice echoing in his helmet, “I am just an ‘old friend’? My dear Setsuna, the last time I checked, you and I had parted company as more than just ‘friends’.” His tone was soft, as if he were remembering better times. Sailor Pluto smiled as she remembered her joyous young life. “Yes,” she whispered, “we were more than just friends.” She walked up to the warrior and knelt in front of him. “We were lovers,” She touched his helmet, where his cheek would be, and looked at him, a smile on her ageless face. “I am not the same man that I once was, Setsuna,” Kai said hoarsely. “I know.” She replied, “But I still love you,” “I will do what I can to help your friends, my love.” “I never doubted you.” Her voice was sincere, and held an undertone of unbending faith in him that he had lost and forgotten through the long years. The she left and he was alone once more in the dust-covered room. He would do what he could. Lord Kai sat in that same dusty chamber, alone, surrounded by candles burning with purple flames. The candles were set in a circle, a pentagram drawn from pure silver ink within that circle of candles. Lord Kai sat within that pentagram, in its very center. He chanted softly under his breath, raspy voice echoing strangely, ghostly, within his hollow helmet. The fallen knight’s eyes glowed with an unnatural yellow, the intensity of which dimly illuminated the room for a brief moment before that noxious yellow glow faded away. As he continued his chanting, the purple flames burned ever brighter, leaping high into the air, only to fall back to their original size and proportions. The silver pentagram flared with a soft, white light. The fallen knight stood up, arms out to his side, his body looking much like a T. The tattered scarf around his neck whipped about of its own accord, for there was no wind in the chamber. His armor rattled, his broadsword clanging loudly against his armored leg. “Gods above,” he chanted, “grant me one request.” Lord Kai tilted his head, as if listening to a silent reply. “My request is this,” He paused. “I wish to be freed from my curse long enough to fulfill a promise. I wish to help the Soldiers of Good and Light. I wish to aid the Sailor Scouts. You know, as well as I, that I hold within my soul the key to attaining the status of Super Sailor. I possess the Holy Grail, that which you have brought unto me as both my greatest achievement, and my greatest curse. I ask you now, Gods of Good, to let me be free of my eternal curse for just a few weeks, to accomplish this, the most urgent of missions. “The one known as Doom, the Fallen Sailor of the Exiled Planet, is the last of the Ancient Sailors. He possesses the means by which the Sailor Soldiers may become the Super Sailors of legend. But I, Lord Kai, Guardian of the Holy Grail, Keeper of the Talismans of Truth, possess the final piece to attaining that great power. I ask you now, Gods of Righteousness, to allow me this one final reprieve. Allow me the chance to fulfill the Prophecy, as High Priest Callae had stated so many centuries ago. Let High Priest Callae’s Prophecy of the Super Sailor come true.” The purple flames died out. The glow in the pentagram faded away, the drawing of the pentagram vanishing along with that glow. Lord Kai stood alone in the chamber, surrounded by melted wax candle stubs. “Thank you,” was his soft reply to the silent words of the gods. Sailor Pluto watched from the Gate of Time as her friend and lover stepped out of the dusty chamber, tears rimming her eyes. The gods had come through, had helped with the fulfillment of the Prophecy. She wiped the tears away with a gloved hand; there was no time for tears of joy or sadness. There was much work to be done if her plan was to work. She had little time left. Serena, back in her own room, had collapsed onto her bed, exhausted. Luna jumped onto the pillow beside her. “Well,” the black cat started, “I had a good time, how about you?” Serena answered by knocking Luna off the bed with a single swipe of her arm. “Serena,” Ikuko Tsukino said, rapping lightly on her daughter’s bedroom door. “Dinner time,” Ikuko Tsukino was an intelligent person, but had forgotten about her daughter’s rather unladylike habit of going to dinner. After getting off the floor where Serena had knocked her down, almost to unconsciousness, the older Tsukino went down the stairs, regretting her choice to stand in front of Serena’s door. Serena and Sammy were sitting at the table, both with hungry and eager looks in their eyes as they waited for dinner to be served. Rini came in next, followed by Luna. Rini sat down beside Serena, Luna curling around Serena’s ankles. Ikuko went into the kitchen, and came back out followed by her husband who was waiting inside to help her with the food. As soon as dinner had been served, the ravenous Serena, Sammy, and Rini trio attacked their food with blind aggressiveness. In a matter of moments, the evil chicken potpie and the monstrous steak with a side of mashed potatoes were vanquished, defeated by the trio. “If Serena could only attack the Negaverse’s minions with the same vigor she, Sammy, and Rini attack food, then we wouldn’t have any problems getting her to become a Super Sailor!” Luna mumbled to herself as she heard the trio scarf down their food. Sailor Moon: The Three Waves of Destruction Wave Two Chapter Six: Dark Lords Die Sailor Doom stared into the floating ball of energy that contained the image of all the Scouts talking to the three Shadow Hunters and that damned apprentice of his. The image within the ball swirled and contorted, at last condensing into the image of all of the Scouts in their respective homes, safe and sound. For now. The fallen Sailor would set his contingency plan into action. Already the Dark Lords were causing havoc and misery in the city. Soon enough Thraait, Orias, and Kanatil will gain the attention of the media, and, in turn, will gain the attention of the Scouts and their families as they watch the evening news. All he had to do to set his contingency plan into motion was to help the Dark Lords in their inevitable battle with the Sailor Scouts. He hated having to fight face to face with his enemies, preferring to antagonize and anger his opponents from afar, for anger clouded the judgement of even the best of fighters. He would then use their clouded judgement to defeat them. However, times have changed, now that Miran has leaked his plans to the Scouts. But, no matter, he always was a skilled fighter when it came to close combat. Serena joined her parents in the living room soon after taking a shower. Dinner was over, and she had washed up, and she came back down to find that her parents had settled into the couch in front of the TV. Evidently, they were engrossed with what was on the news. Serena wasn’t the type to watch the news often, in fact she only watched the news about ten times in her life, but tonight’s news had caught her eyes and ears. The reporter on the screen was speaking. “…chaos has erupted here tonight.” The camera panned to the side, giving the viewers the chance to see the three warriors, two males and one female, devastating the buildings, police vehicles, and nearby roads. Serena knew instinctively that the three warriors were from the Negaverse. She rushed from the living room and up into her room, to her bed where Luna was lying on a pillow. Luna got up on all fours to see what was agitating the young girl so much. “Luna,” Serena stammered breathlessly, “I-I-I just saw the news!” This, of course, got Luna into a bit of a mocking spree. “You? Watching the news? The world must be coming to an end!” “Well,” Serena said indignantly, “Unless the Sailor Scouts and I can defeat the Negaverse bad guys who are destroying the buildings and police cars near the Crown Arcade, the world will come to an end!” “What!” Luna was now dead serious. “Negaverse warriors? Near the Arcade? C’mon, what are you waiting for? Call the others and let’s go! Transform now!” Serena closed the door to her room and locked it. No sense in letting Sammy or her parents accidentally open the door while in she was transforming. Serena grabbed the brooch that was in her pocket. “Moon Crystal Power!” The telltale ribbons flew from the brooch, enwrapping her body in a flurry of pink and feathers. Once the transformation ended, Sailor Moon pulled her glove low, not all the way off, just far enough so that she could talk into her communicator watch that was on her wrist. She hit the all call button. The mini screen on the watch turned on, split into five separate pictures, each with the head of the five Inner Scouts. “Guys, did you see the news?” Sailor Moon blurted into the communicator. “Yeah” was the reply that each Inner Scout gave their leader. Luna jumped onto Sailor Moon’s shoulder, leaning forward to talk into the communicator. “Transform right now and get to the Arcade!” she ordered. “And don’t worry about Hotaru and the Outer Scouts! I’ll contact them; I have a special link-up watch to talk to them, just in case something like this happened. Artemis and I forgot that we had these link-ups in the first place! Mine, get Artemis and tell him to get the Outer Scouts. I’ll get Hotaru.” Thraait was having the time of his life. The bullets that the police shot at him disintegrated three feet before they hit him, the bullets decimated by his evil energy. He picked out the police officers that shot at him, pointed a finger at them, and let loose several green bolts of lightning, each bolt ripping through each officers’ heart, killing them instantly. Fifty officers had come to the scene, but only ten remained. Orias continued to blast the cars and trucks that brought the media and officers to the Arcade. He threw ball after ball of pure energy at the vehicles, each ball blasting the vehicle to pieces. Kanatil kept watch for the Sailor Scouts, not wasting her energies on mere police officers. She wanted the Scouts. She didn’t see the tall blonde woman and her shorter, longer-haired counterpart slip into the nearby alley. “Michiru,” the tall blonde said to her partner. “We need to transform.” “Yes.” Michiru agreed. “Let’s take those three out, Haruka.” A beeping sound came from each of their pockets. Both reached into her pocket, pulling out strangely crafted sticks. The sticks were glowing with an eerie light. “Link-up?” the tall blonde named Haruka asked more to herself than Michiru. The glow vanished, replaced by the voices of Luna and Artemis. “Hey, Sailor Uranus, Neptune.” Luna’s voice said, her voice coming from the stick. “Luna?” Michiru asked into her stick, “You found the link-up devices. Where are you? And where are the Inner Scouts?” “They are on their way. We are with them. Hotaru is with us as well,” Artemis’s voice rang out. Luna, Artemis, Tuxedo Mask, the Inner Scouts, and Sailor Saturn all rushed to the Arcade, leaping from roof to roof, building to building on the tops of the houses and corporate buildings of Tokyo. Luna and Artemis both had a gold collar on their necks, a small microphone sticking out of the collar and angled so that they could talk into it. These were the link-up devices that Luna and Artemis had provided with their backward somersault trick. They were busily speaking to Haruka and Michiru through the microphones. “Outer Scouts, do not transform until we get there,” Artemis said into his microphone. “Yes,” Luna agreed, “I would advise you to remain hidden. These warriors seem very powerful. They might detect your transformation. We can’t allow them to see you just yet. As soon as we get there, transform.” “All right.” Haruka replied into her stick. The voices died away. “A waiting game, eh?” Michiru said to her partner. Kanatil called out to her companions, “Phase Two. Go!” Thraait and Orias both jumped into the air at the same time, converging at the peak of their jump. They joined hands, a bolt of black flames flaring from their joined hands, ripping into the earth, shredding the pavement, wrecking buildings, destroying cars, killing police officers. Thraait laughed, enjoying the gruesome site before him. Orias merely frowned, thinking how his laughing companion was sounding like such a moron. “Thraait,” Orias said sternly, “Please, I beg you, just shut up.” His words fell on deaf ears for his companion was still laughing at the dying screams of the burning police officers. “Damnit. Damnit all to hell,” Haruka cursed, seeing the officers become toasted marshmallows before her very eyes. “Damn. Where are they? What’s taking Luna and the others so long?” “We’re right behind you,” Luna’s voice said from behind. Haruka and Michiru both turned, seeing the Scouts and company gathered near the end of the alley behind them. They had jumped from the rooftops above to the alley below. “Hey.” Haruka said to them. “Name’s Haruka Tenoh. She’s Michiru Kaioh.” Haruka indicated her companion with a thumb pointed her way. “Let’s take those three assholes out, shall we?” Haruka raised her stick into the air, Michiru doing the same. “Uranus Planet Power!” Haruka yelled. “Neptune Planet Power!” Michiru called out. Both of them had their bodies change into shimmering colored persons. The power sticks each had radiated with inner light, both spun in a circle, stick trailing behind them. Their sticks poured forth a stream of energy, creating a circle of energy around them. That circle erupted, energy flying into the air, entrapping them within their own circle of power. The energy died down and two Sailor Scout warriors stood where Haruka and Michiru had been. Haruka was now dressed as Sailor Uranus, Michiru as Sailor Neptune. Both were eager to avenge the deaths of the officers killed by the three Negaverse warriors. “Okay.” Sailor Uranus said determined. Her fist radiated a pale yellow light. She raised her glowing fist into the air. “World Shaking!” She slammed her fist into the ground, releasing the pent up energy in her hand as a ball of yellow energy that roared its way toward the two male warriors in the sky. Orias was the first to react to the ball of yellow energy coming their way. He let go of Thraait’s hand, disconnecting their double attack. He dropped to the ground quickly, landing in a crouch. He looked up just in time to see Thraait explode in a blast of dust from the energy ball. “Damn,” he muttered. “Thraait was good. Very good. But that chick is better.” He eyed Sailor Uranus warily. There always is someone else who’s better. “So,” Kanatil muttered as she jumped from the roof to land beside her fellow Dark Lord, “I see the Scouts have come. To their ultimate demise.” She was cocky, and way too headstrong. Orias didn’t like it one bit. “That tall blond one killed Thraait, a dark elf lord, in a single blast,” Orias dared to remark. “So?” Kanatil replied casually. “Thraait never was all that powerful. Besides, I never did like him. He laughs like he was drunk or something.” “Indeed.” Orias was forced to duck as Sailor Neptune shot a Deep Submerge attack at him. The attacks slammed into the side of a building, wrecking the building and ravaging the nearby sidewalks. “Those girls are a lot tougher than they look. Let’s see just how smart they are.” Orias suggested, “After all, strength isn’t everything.” Sailor Jupiter tried her hand in an attack. “Jupiter Thunder Clap Zap!” The lightning ball flew through the air, aimed on a perfect course for Orias, but he dodged the attack at the last minute, the lightning ball just clipping the Dark Lord on his right arm. Blood spurted from the gash on his arm. He turned a wicked eye at Jupiter. “So, you think your so tough, do you?” Orias cocked his unwounded arm back, a black ball of energy forming in its palm. “Flash Blast!” Orias whipped the ball across, energy peeling off it and trailing behind it. Jupiter leaped to the side, the energy ball missing her by a hairsbreadth. She crashed, face first, into the mud and grime of the alley. Getting up, she wiped the muck and the blood from her scrapes from her face. Sailor Venus went next. She pointed her finger at Orias and yelled, “Venus Love Chain Encircle!” Her yellow heart whip shot from her finger, flying at the Dark Lord. Orias easily jumped above the clumsily manipulated attack. He grabbed the chain as it whipped below him, his hand glowing with black energy. That energy coursed from his hand and into the chain, the chain instantly turning black, dark lightning jumping up the chain, electrifying Venus. She jolted from the shock, slamming into the wall of the building she was standing next to, as she had no control over her actions now that her nervous system was out of whack from the jolt. Sailor Mars yelled out, “Mars Celestial Fire Surround!” the numerous fire discs catching Orias off guard. He took some hits, his clothes on fire in several places. He easily extinguished the flames by patting the fires on his person until they went out. Angered, Orias hurled several red bolts of energy at Sailor Mars. Each blast struck her squarely, each burning into her flesh. The wounds were only superficial individually; they were just scratches compared to the damage she dealt him, but when so many tiny wounds were combined together, her injuries ranked among the serious. She fell to her knees, clutching her bleeding arm. “Shine Aqua Illusion!” Sailor Mercury’s attack sailed through the air, only to be zapped into water particles by Orias’s energy beams. Orias continued his assault, sending more beams down on the Sailor Scouts, showering them with red laser fire. Sailor Mercury went down, as did Uranus and Neptune. Tuxedo Mask was able to throw a rose at Orias before he was shot down, but another laser destroyed the rose. Luna and Artemis were also hit, falling down to the ground dazed. Sailor Moon and Sailor Saturn were the only ones left. Saturn focused her will and formed the Silence Glaive. She brandished it proficiently, ready to defend her weakened friends with her life. Sailor Moon produced her Moon Scepter, also ready to fight. The other Scouts and their companions looked at their two friends through pain filled eyes. They were out of the fight, but not yet dead. Orias walked up to the two Scouts, trapping them in the alley with their fallen comrades. Kanatil joined him a moment later. “I suppose we should introduce ourselves,” Kanatil put in. “I am Kanatil. This is Orias. The dark elf you blew up was Thraait. We are the Dark Lords of the Negaverse. We have come to kill you. Regards of Sailor Doom.” Saturn pointed her Glaive at Kanatil, prepared to attack. Kanatil looked at the weapon. “Oh please,” she said simply, “I doubt you can even scratch me with that little toy. Go and put it away, child.” She pointed a finger at Saturn, pink energy radiating off of the digit. Saturn braced for the attack. Kanatil shot a pink blast of hot energy at Saturn, the energy flying from her fingertip. “Silence Wall!” Saturn screamed desperately. Purple light flared from the Glaive, surrounding herself and her companions. The pink energy blast dissipated into nothing as soon as it touched the wall of energy that came from Saturn’s Glaive. Kanatil was genuinely surprised that the Scouts possessed a barrier skill such as the Silence Wall. Orias unleashed his own attack; the heavy barrage of energy slammed into the Wall, but didn’t even scratch it. Sailor Saturn’s Glaive flared with purple light, it felt heavy in her grasp, and it was getting warmer. Saturn bit her lip, stifling a moan of pain as the now hot Glaive burned through her gloves to scorch her skin. Saturn grunted the pain away. She had to keep the Wall up. “Sailor Moon,” Saturn grunted, “I don’t know how much longer I can keep the Silence Wall up. Finish them off now!” At that instant, Saturn crumpled to the ground, weak and exhausted from the Galive’s power drain on her body. The Wall faded away as the Glaive clattered to the ground. Sailor Moon was ready. As soon as the shield went down, her Scepter came up. “Moon Scepter Elimination!” A blast of white crescent moons ripped through Orias, turning him into dust, but Kanatil threw her arms in front of her, erecting a blast shield made of pure energy. The Moon Scepter attack rammed its full force into the shield, destroying it entirely. However, the shield had done its job; Kanatil remained unharmed. “Nice shot,” she congratulated, “There are few that could destroy my blast shields. You are an exceptional fighter,” Kanatil used a moment regarding the young girl and corrected her last remark. “Not a fighter. Just a lucky kid who can use that Scepter.” Kanatil raised her arms into the air, energy zapping from palm to palm. She threw her arms down, releasing the gathered energy. A blast of black light sailed toward Sailor Moon, intent on her destruction. Sailor Moon’s friends cried out in horror. A silvery flash intercepted the black light. An explosion erupted as the silvery dirk and the black ball of light clashed together. Once the air cleared, three Shadow Hunters stood protectively in front of Sailor Moon. Perrigon and Opal both wore the uniforms of the Shadow Hunters: blue jumpsuit, black boots and gloves. They both wore black helmets that matched Derrak’s when he fought the regenerating fish monster. Their visors were open so that everyone could see their faces. Derrak was also dressed in the Shadow Hunter uniform and also had his helmet activated. His visor was closed, however, and the miniature gun turret was cocked, loaded, and aimed at Kanatil. “You made me use my favorite dirk,” Derrak said to Kanatil acidly. “You guys okay?” Perrigon turned to look at the battered Scouts. They all nodded, and he turned back to face Kanatil. “Miran is busy settling some business,” he explained, “If we are to stop this Sailor Doom guy from becoming a god, and thus wreaking bloody hell on all of us, we have to take out his source of power. That’s what Miran is doing right now. Stopping Sailor Doom by taking out his power source.” “Perrigon,” Derrak said, “Let’s go do some damage,” His gun clicked, a telltale sign that it was primed with an exploding bullet. “Fire.” The bullet sailed through the air, hitting Kanatil and exploding while it was digging through her sternum. Flesh and blood poured onto the ground, Kanatil clutching her now-open chest with one hand, attempting to stem the blood flow. “Always so messy,” Perrigon remarked discouragingly. His visor snapped shut, a gun turret snapping out the side of the helmet. “Fire.” A blue laser shot out of the gun turret, the beam cutting into Kanatil’s shoulder, burning the wound so that it didn’t bleed. Opal’s visor shut as well, gun turret out and ready. “Fire!” A hail of mini-missiles ripped from the turret’s barrel, ramming Kanatil so hard that she sailed out of the alley and into the street. “Now would be a good time to finish her off, Sailor Moon,” Opal suggested. Sailor Moon, recovering from the shock of the violence she just witnessed, aimed the Scepter at Kanatil. “Moon Scepter Elimination!” This time, Kanatil had no barriers to tricks to employ. The attack reduced her to moon dust. Sailor Moon wiped the sweat from her brow, thinking that the whole bloody fight was over. She was dead wrong. A large, dark shadow loomed over the Shadow Hunters, the Scouts, and the other companions. The shadow’s eyes flared red. The red of hate, evil. The shadow’s form was soon bathed in moonlight, revealing his features. He was one hundred feet tall, fifty feet wide, and all muscle. His defined muscles were rock hard and his intelligence matched his sheer strength. His hair was jet black and was long and thick. It fluttered in the breeze and whipped wildly about, some strands hitting his face. His jaw was squared, his nose large, but not ungainly, his red eyes flashing. Who is that! Jupiter groaned, getting up. The other fallen companions got up as well. That’s got to be Sailor Doom! Perrigon whispered. Yes, Opal agreed. She pointed at the huge man’s clothes. Look at his uniform! His clothes were almost identical to the Sailor Scout’s uniform, only it was modified for use on a male person. He wore a one-piece body suit that was totally white, black boots, black gloves, a black silk sash around his waist, a billowing blue cape, and a black open-faced helmet with a white plume. At his hip was a gold scabbard with a sword in it. The sword’s hilt was all that could be seen, but that hilt was made of braided gold and studded with gems. He looked like a prince. Or a warlord. I am Sailor Doom. His voice sounded like a thousand cannons going off at once. Surrender. End of Wave Two
