The Good Side of the Dub In all my days of Sailor Moon, I have come to discover that there are many people out there who prefer the original Japanese version of the show to the dub. I have read the material on this subject and I can see why. But the dub does have its good side (just as everything surely does if we look close enough). I, like many others I'm sure, don't speak Japanese. Therefore, it would be very hard for me to watch the original version of the show (lol). ^.^ Now, I know how much I'm missing out on. For one, some of the concepts (such as all the changes in the Super S version) definitely changed in the dub. I admit, if the Golden Crystal is Darien's, then Rini shouldn't get to steal the show. Although, when Rini first entered the picture, I despised her. She was always hanging on Darien and I got very upset (much like the dear Serena). But, through this change I definitely fell in love with her, gradually in the S season and totally in the SuperS season. She and Helios were so cute and her purity and innocence were breathtaking. However, Usagi is still and shall forever be my favorite character and the reason I watch Sailor Moon. I have discovered that Darien was a much cooler guy in the manga and Japanese version of the show. It's too bad that he changed when he came to North America. If they really cut out romantic and sensitive stuff just to make it suitable for younger viewers, I find that very outraging. I am a hopeless romantic (with a Prince Charming of my own) and I love Darien and Serena's eternal romance. But it sounds like I'm totally missing out! Definitely not fair! On the other hand, I don't agree with same gender relationships and am glad that I don't have to watch that. But to cut small things out to make it more suitable for younger viewers? Plain crazy if you ask me. Naoko Takeuchi created Sailor Moon the way she intended it and for the age group she wanted. To change that is tampering, plain and simple. But like I said, the dub has its good side, for without it, I would never have been introduced to the enchanting world of Sailor Moon. Although I wish some things had stayed the same, I am grateful for what I have been given. Now to get those Sailor Stars over here...
