As we all know from both the manga and the anmie that Usagi(Serena) is both in her past life and currently the Princess of the Moon. It is my belief that Usagi is stronger as the Princess now than in her past life, and that Princess Serenity is the true form of Usagi. For instance currently Usagi as Princess, not as Sailor Moon, has the ability to use the Silver Imperium Crystal. Think about it she had to transform into Princess Serenity for the crystal to come out of her, also she rebuilt Tokyo in Sailor Moon S with the power of the crystal , as Serenity, and even when defeating the black moon Neo- Queen Serenity, a future form of Princess Serenity, was there to help her power up as Sailor Moon. And in order to turn into Eternal Sailor Moon, in Super S Usagi had to Transform into Princess Serenity first so she could use the Holy Grail , which had the power of the Silver Imperium Crystal in it already. And lastly I at the end of Sailor Stars Usagi transforms into her next to ultimate form of Sailor Cosmos, Neo- Queen Serenity. again just a older form of Princess Serenity.

All of this Usagi does as the Princess Serenity of today, while Princess Serenity of the Silver Millennium ,was just a title for the time being she was in her past life the heir to the throne and would someday be able to control the Silver Imperuim Crystal. And when Usagi finally defeated the Negaverse she was offered the throne to the Moon Kingdom,now with the Silver Imperium Crystal, but she turned it down, ( a wise choice I think because I don't think she could have protected it as good) because she wanted to stay on Earth with Mamoru(Darien). Also she is treated by most of the characters ,even the villains ,not as Sailor Moon but at first introduction as Princess Serenity, Future Queen.
