One character that many Sailor Moon fan's tend to dislike is Sailor Mercury. While there is nothing wrong with disliking her, many people have some of the stupidest reasons why they hate her. (The same goes with Mars, Moon, and Chibimoon.) While she is not my favorite character from Sailor Moon, I feel that someone needs to stand up for her. Here are some of the most common idiotic reasons why people don't like this character.

1. She spends too much time studying!- Many people probably don't know this, but most people do study a lot in Japan. Teenagers are worried about not passing their entrance exams, and not getting into the best high schools or colleges. Even after regular school they go to Cram School. Some students even go as far as committing suicide because of all the pressure.

2. Her hair looks like it's glued on!- This is one that I laugh at. Sure I've noticed that her hair doesn't always look realistic but don't you think that would be the animators fault? There are many other times when she looks great.

3. She's too quiet.- This is her personality. Not everyone in the world is an extrovert. Hotaru is introverted but no one seems to have a problem with her.

4. She's the weakest of the Senshi- Actually that would be Chibimoon. And sure her attacks don't do much as hers are more for defense but she relies on her intelligence and yes it does come in handy. She has found youma's weaknesses when the other Senshi were loosing. Example: In episode 45 Jupiter was killed because she thought she saw an illusion of Motoki(Andrew) being hung and stopped her attack. Later Mercury found the one who was creating the illusions and smashed the gem on it's head that created the illusions taking her life in the process. ::clip ommitted::

Mercury's shabon spray can create a fog around the enemy, which believe it or not has helped the others giving Sailor Moon time to power up. One more note, if all the characters were super powerful, Sailormoon would be a very boring show.

5. She has no talent that makes her seem better than the other characters- Sure she and Michiru are both smart and are great swimmers. But isn't Ami smarter that Michiru? Ami can also play chess and that takes a lot of talent as there is strategy involved. Many of you may consider her a nerd. I just have to say, grow up from your high school world.

6. She has bad taste in boys- This is another one I laugh at. Many people mean Urawa Ryo (Greg in the dub). First of all Ami has other crushes besides him, including a composer and the three lights. Second, everyone's taste is different. Some girls are attracted to artistically talented guys, others like the big strong type, and some like the education ones. Some guys your friends like you think are the ugliest men in the world.

Like I said, while it is ok to dislike a character, make sure that reasons you suggest at least make some sense.
