Let me say right off the bat that I, Jigglypuffer, am a Usagi and Mamoru fan. Wait, wait! Don't burn me, ala Salem Witch Trial Style, yet! I still have an essay to write. Then you can burn me crispy.

I don't dislike Seiya. I haven't seen nor read enough of the Stars season (next to nil, really) to make a fair conclusion on her character. But I have seen and read more than enough information on the cheery Light, so I have a good idea of what makes her tick. So, to reiterate, I don't dislike Seiya. Heck, she seems like a pretty decent gal (or guy, whichever you choose) to me. My only beef is that she has a thing for Usagi (see above). But other than that, Seiya's all right. But what I don't like is everyone trying to push Seiya on Usagi. Sure, she's nice and all, and a good portion of her fans say she's a much better choice for Usagi, but let's face it folks; Usagi chose Mamoru. End of story, right?

That's not exactly the case. Everyone is so hung up on Seiya that very few have qualms about bumping Mamoru off in favor of the Light. Now, I know fanfiction and fanart are expressions of freedom, but people! Mamoru loves Usagi! Usagi loves Mamoru! Besides, Seiya goes home anyway. But that's not the point, they say.

Of course, by now you're thinking, why is she wasting her time if she hates the duo of Moon and Star? Because I don't hate Seiya, and I do think she deserves someone to love. But why does it have to be Usagi? Why not Kakyuu (another popular coupling)? One of her fellow Lights, maybe. Or (my preferred choice) Minako! Yes, Minako! Why not? I mean, come on! She's been said to be Usagi's twin at times. She looks like her, acts like her, and dresses like her. And if Seiya is as noble and good as her fans make her out to be, she wouldn't try to break up Usagi and Mamoru anyway. So why not go for the next best thing, being Usagi's double? Of course, you could be weird like me and do a Seiya/Fisheye story. But I don't care who, just not Usagi! Usagi isn't that great anyway. Don't get me wrong, I love Usagi and think she's a wonderful main character. But realistically, if she was as clumsy, slobbish, lazy, and whatnot as she is portrayed, half the guys who fall for her wouldn't give her a second glace.

In conclusion (before my eminent painful demise at the hands of S/U fans) I'd like to say one last thing. Seiya is kind, compassionate, fun, and all that jazz. But Usagi chose Mamoru. So I think Seiya (and her fans) should choose a new beau for her. Go nutty! Think up crazy pairings, and figure out a way that they work. Seiya deserves better than to pine after a taken woman.
